Netflix bible drama makes Eve trans. Episode 2 cancelled

Netflix’s ambitious new drama Genesis was originally slated to run 12 episodes with 65 spin-offs covering every book of the Bible, all the way through to Revelation. However, it has now been abruptly cut down to a single episode, after producers admitted that the show had encountered “technical difficulties.”

Executives explained that the writers had “updated” God’s narrow and un-inclusive approach to creation with a bold new commitment to “radical diversity, representative of modern audiences.”

Adam was portrayed as a deaf Somali wheelchair user (plucked from The Garden of Eden’s tree of mobility aids), while Eve was reimagined as a demi-sexual Irish Traveller trans woman.

Critics hailed the casting as “a historic moment for the representation of minorities in Eden” But with the lead characters essentially sharing the same ‘plumbing’ writers struggled to introduce Cain, Abel – or indeed the rest of humanity.

The newly-shortened single episode drama now focuses on Adam and Eve growing old together in the Garden: eating fruit, attending protests against God’s outdated views, and celebrating a diversity that, sadly, will never be inherited.

A Netflix spokesman insisted the show was still “a triumph.” adding that, “We may have killed off the human race before it started, but at least straight white men never existed.”
